| Interdisciplinary lecture series will focus on Hip Hop this fall |
A new fall lecture series will focus on the art and scholarship of Hip Hop. The series is sponsored by a number of L&S departments and programs.
The UW-Madison will host a semester-long fall lecture series based on the scholarship and art of Hip Hop.
The entire campus and broader Madison community are invited to attend the free lecture series which is a cooperative venture of the Office of Multicultural Arts Initiatives (OMAI), the Havens Center and the Office of the Vice Provost for Equity and Diversity.
For nine consecutive weeks some of the nation’s top experts in the emerging field of hip hip studies will present their research and perspectives on a variety of themes in a myriad of academic disciplines (including Sociology, History, Women's Studies, Communication Arts, etc.).

| Upcoming Conference: "Cartonera Publishers: Recycling Latin American Bookscapes" Oct. 8th-9th |
In conjunction with the Wisconsin Book Festival, several campus programs are sponsoring a free conference open to the public: "Cartonera Publishers: Recycling Latin American Bookscapes."
The conference will bring guests from Latin and South America to UW-Madison October 8th-9th.
The conference is the first reunion of editors from eight Cartonera ("paper pickers press") publishing houses in Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Bolivia, Peru, Mexico and Chile.
The reunion and workshops will bring together the community of scholars and members of different Cartonera publishing projects.
